About this blog

Welcome to the Fibro Diaries.

First let me start off by saying, this ain’t gonna be your usual “15 ways to manage fibromyalgia” type of blog. If you are interested in that (or other blogs I find amazing), here are some I’d recommend checking out:

This blog is a window into hubby’s journey and mine as we dare to live, laugh and love while learning to manage a life with fibromyalgia.

What can you expect here?

Well, I can’t promise there won’t be some moaning and groaning posts about the trials and tribulations of living with fibromyalgia. You know…the shit days. But more than that, this blog is a place for hubby and I to share how we are learning to create a new life…redefining a new normal…and trying to laugh as much as we can through the process.

I mean…seriously, this fibro fog has already provided us with ample material that you just have to laugh at, rather than cry, and it’s begging to be shared with the blogging world!

And….well…frankly that’s who we are! At our core, we are two people who love to banter, laugh, love and squeeze every ounce of fun out of life that we can. We’ve both learned far too early in life just how precious it is and how things can change in an instant.

I won’t lie or downplay it. This illness has put a real damper on things and has challenged us in ways we couldn’t have imagined. Often it feels like one step forward and two steps back, but we are committed to moving forward. And I want to share with you our process as we build this new life. Not just my experiences, thoughts and musings but hubby’s perspective as well.

Wait a minute, what’s all this other insane content?

Well…you may have noticed, this blog didn’t start out this way. I entered into the blogging world in 2010 as a way of bringing awareness to impaired driving as well as just having some writing fun. I mean, who can forget:

I took a blogging hiatus for a couple of years but, as with most things in my life, I am turning back to writing to help me cope, share and empower others in their own personal journey.

If you are here because you or a loved one is learning to live with a chronic illness, I am sorry! Sucks hard! I hope you find some solace in what hubby and I share. If nothing else, I hope we are able to bring a smile to your face, share a laugh or wallow a wee bit together.

If you have suggestions or ideas about content you’d like to see or story ideas, please don’t hesitate to fire me a note, I’d love to hear from you! Fill out the contact form or email me at: Natalie (at) nataliehartford (dot) com.

Happy Day!

  1. Thanks for the link backs. This is the first time I have read the About page here…my husband posted a virgin word @ urban dictionary – ventrilogasm.- pretty sure there is something wrong with him, but he’s funny so I’m keeping him.

    • You are most welcome for the linky love. The post on the goat had me in a fit of giggles. I read them to hubby and I though he’d died laughing. Seriously priceless.
Ventrilogasm – fahhhbulous!! I am going to look it up and I’ll have to use it in an upcoming post to give your hubby some fame.
Gotta luv funny men….they keep things happy. 🙂

  2. Glad to see you back, Natalie! Your blog looks as fabulous as always. I’m looking forward to your future posts 🙂
