ROW80 – Round 1 – Check-in #20

Time for Sunday’s ROW80 progress update. Work has gotten a wee bit insane and I had three evenings with plans so it was a bit of a challenge to balance it all. I wasn’t around as much on the social media front/blogging/twitter as usual but I’ll be around tonight and tomorrow night to visit y’all! All in all, I think it was a stellar week!

Writing Goals:

  • Complete outline of WIP
  • Write 1750 words a week, on average 250 words a day (can be on WIP or other writings like flash fiction, character development, world building etc)
    1524 total
  • Finish James Scott Bell book
  • Read 2 other writing craft books
Done Will Write for Shoes: How to Write a ChickLit Novel
    3/4 through Save the Cat
  • NEW goal: Complete weekly assignments of Plotting Via Motivation (March 5-30, 2012)
    Done (3 assignments)

Social Media Goals:

  • Blog – post 4 times a week
    4 posts – total word count: 1577
  • Blog – post ROW80 progress reports twice a week (Sunday and Wednesday)
    Done
  • Tweet/Comment on at least 10 blogs a week
    Done
  • Comment on 1 new blog per week (ROW80 or otherwise)
    Done

Healthy Lifestyle Goals:

  • Cardio – 3 times a week (Monday, Wednesday, Saturday)
    4 cardio
  • BowFlex – 3 times a week (Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday)
    3 BowFlex
  • Maintain a daily food/migraine journal

The wins:

  • Did great on the word count and writing. Maybe not 100% but I am pleased
  • Writing course is going great!
  • I wasn’t quite as active on social media/blogging/tweeting but I’ll catch up with y’all this week.
  • Rocked the exercise this week! Round 3 of 8-week Death by Swimming started and I did 56 laps. Started skipping during BowFlex to amp up heart rate and work in some cardio (now known as Death by Skipping). Walked the dog with one of my best gal pals – what’s better than that? Did a total of 80 squats and 40 lunges (potty breaks and during BowFlex). I am feeling it today with a little muscle tenderness and shin splints but am super pumped. Hoping to keep up the work this week.

Where to improve:

  • Quite honestly, I think this was another bang up week. I felt like I missed getting around to all the blogs I normally do but I think the ebb and flow overall works out so I am pleased. Here’s to finishing up this round of ROW80 strong!

How are you making out with your ROW80 goals?

  1. I think you are wise to pull back on the social media and go full force on the writing, Natalie. We know you’ll be back. 🙂

Congrats on the excellent week! Hope this one exceeds it!!!!

  2. Yes I would have to say it was a bang up week for you Natalie! Awsome actually! But are you trying to kill yourself? You not only have death by swimming, but now you have death by skipping. No one can say that you aren’t exercising girl! LOL! Have a great week and thanks for popping by to support me! Good to see you! Enjoy your Sunday evening with Hubby! 🙂

  3. Girl, please motivate me in the exercise department. I don’t know what happened to my drive there. I need to find it. I am proud of you and all that you’re doing. I can learn a lot from you. I need to learn to put fewer words in my posts! Okay, determined. I want to be a rock star like you. 😀

    • Girl, you are totally a rock star!! I struggle with keeping posts short as well because it’s my nature to be wordy and lengthy! LOL!
Exercise. I am not sure what happened this week but something lit a spark in my ass and I just got to it. Weather turned nice and I am trying to motivate hubby as well. And I just decided this week I was going to DO IT! 🙂 Stick with it, you’ll get there!

  4. Bang up week is an understatement. You’re doing great with your goals. Your positive attitude and hard work may cause an epidemic for us all. I appreciate that about you.

Listen, on my blog today you mentioned seeing a market for Conversations in Literature. First of all thanks for the affirmation. Second, I would love to hear what you can see.

    • Thank you so much Ali. You pay such wonderful compliments. I hope you know how much of an inspiration and motivation you and your words are to all of us!
I could totally see that book being a huge hit with schools, clubs, libraries, and just about anyone whose always wanted to start or take part in book clubs etc. I think it’d be fahhhbulous!!!

  5. LOL! I’d need a potty break after every other squat, haha. Way to rock it, Natalie!!

  6. I agree. Social media is important, but writing is more so. The balance is tricky, but sounds like you’re finding it. Fabulous week, lady. Very proud:)

  7. You GO, girl!! (and not in the pink funnel kinda way) I think you’re rocking this ROW80 thing…maybe you sponsor the next round??? Hey…hey…

Anyway, we know where you live and I was in bed all week so I missed the the disappearing act. Plus, we got to laugh our guts out on Monday over Hubby’s stellar Seuss-ness. i’m delighted the writing classes are wonderful…you’re gonna finish strong. I can tell!

    • WAHAHAHA! I near fell off the chair (not in the pink funnel kind of way…LOL)!
Last week was a definite success and I am hoping this week and next will finish up STRONG! I am determined. Squeeeeee…..
      Hope you feel BETTER!!!

  8. Awesome with the exercise. Makes me tired just hearing about it. Have managed the thread mill 4 times a week for an hour. Sounds like it’s helping you with the writing as well. Exercise equals creativity. 🙂

  9. Definitely another bang up week Natalie. Way to go! You are wrapping up this round very strong 🙂 Just reading your exercise accomplishments exhausted me 😆 Here’s to another FAB week :raises a glass: or is it too early for that?!

  10. As always, you’re doing great, Natalie!
    Keep rocking the ROW!

  11. You are looking mahvelous, dahling! Love that word count — writing and blogging. I’m dying from YOUR swimming, though, just reading your lap count. Keep up the raucous rocking of the ROW80!

  12. Faaaaantasstic Week! Four Cardio sessions – you went OVER the goal that has been plaguing you – totally awesome! (okay, no more exclam’s for me – whew).
