ROW80 – Round 1 – Check-in #2

It’s Sunday and that means time for another ROW80 progress update. So far, this week has been bang on! I am praying to the God’s to help me maintain this level of motivation and momentum!

Writing Goals:

  • Complete outline of WIP
  • Write 1750 words a week, on average 250 words a day (can be on WIP or other writings like flash fiction, character development, world building etc)
    1974 words total this week
  • Finish James Scott Bell book
    Read chapter 5
  • Read 2 other writing craft books

Social Media Goals:

  • Blog – post 4 times a week
    5 posts – total word count: 2190
  • Blog – post ROW80 progress reports twice a week (Sunday and Wednesday)
    Done
  • Tweet/Comment on at least 10 blogs a week
    Done
  • Comment on 1 new blog per week (ROW80 or otherwise)
    Done

Healthy Lifestyle Goals:

  • Cardio – 3 times a week (Monday, Wednesday, Saturday)
    Done – yeahhh!
  • BowFlex – 3 times a week (Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday)
    Done – woot woot
  • Maintain a daily food/migraine journal
    Done

The wins:

  • Exceeded my word goals.
  • Met all my social media goals.
  • Met all my healthy lifestyle goals (didn’t eat out ONCE this week which is huge for us).

Where to improve:

  • Although I exceeded my word goal, I only wrote 3 evenings and for 110 minutes. Word count is the goal but I would like to incorporate writing a bit more often and/or for longer stretches of time. It’ll come.
  • Spend more time reading craft books.
  • Track the blogs I visit better so I know how many and who I visit/comment/promote. This will also help ensure I am visiting new people.
  • Continue to improve on eating healthier.

How are you making out with your ROW80 goals?

  2. Stellar week, Natalie! *clapping wildly* Build on that now! Wishing you another amazing week coming!

  3. I am inspired! That’s quite a list and you accomplished them all! Way to go! Now I’m asking myself if I’m inspired to add more to my list. Hmm. Other than pool/3 days a week, nope. LOL. But I’ll look forward to seeing you breeze through all of yours. Keep up the fantastic work! 🙂

    • My body is starting to SCREAM in refusal to move but I just keep ignoring it. LOL!!!
3 pool days a week is AWESOME Kristy – woot woot!!! I say get that nailed down before looking to add anymore. Hubby and I are just a bit hardcore….LOL!!

  4. Whooohoooo! Look at you go! Great job on your goals and don’t stress it, the writing time will come. You’re doing awesome, keep the momentum going and you’ll have a book done in no time!

  5. May I just say that you are a ROW80 ROCK STAR!!!!!!!!!!!

This is the most positive I’ve ever seen you with an update and I am a faithful subscriber!

You totally kicked butt!!!! Alright, what have you changed in your life to help you get here because I want to follow your plan! What an example!

Awesome start to another awesome week! See you around the blogoshere! 🙂

    • Eeeeekee….love it Karen – thank you!
I don’t know. I just made the decision to watch less tv, move my ass, and write more. Last week, it was 9 pm each night when I went to write. Normally I would have said “oh, it’s too late now…” and walked away but no more! If it’s 9 pm and I’m done exercising etc, then it’s time to WRITE. It’s never too late to write. And I just told myself, I wouldn’t accept less than my weekly goals unless I had real-life reasons for the slip (sick, family emergencies etc). Laziness and TV-time is NOT an acceptable excuse. LOL!!

  6. Great week, Natalie! I agree with Tameri. The wiring process will come. I’m still tweaking/figuring out what will work best for me now. And carving out time for some of the other goals, like reading craft books, will come as well. Scheduling so I know what day or time I have set aside to do something helps me so I’m not feeling stress about what to work on next. Waving sparkler sticks for your week 2! 🙂

    • Yeahhh Barbara – it’s definitely a learning process but we are getting there leaps and bounds aren’t we?! Love it! I like the idea of scheduling what you’ll be doing so you know ahead of time. I might leave time at the end of each writing session to plan what I will work on next so I can get to it. GREAT idea. Thank you!!!
      Waving sparklers back darlin’!! 🙂

  7. Great job, Natalie! Woot!

  8. What a list, and great job! I’m so happy you’re writing on the WIP now, and major kudos for the exercise. Keep it up!

  9. way to go Natalie

  10. Fantastic week Natalie. Go you! I’d be interested to see what you come up with to track the blogs etc. Best of luck with the upcoming week.

    • Thanks Raelyn!
Yeah, I was thinking of just an excel spreadsheet but I was reading Barbara’s blog the other day where she talked about how time consuming it was getting just tracking the blogs she visits. I’m worried it’s another time burner when…how important is it? I’m going to ponder this and I’ll let you know what I come up with. If anything…LOL!!

  11. Hi Natalie!! Wow! Awesome Goals!! I know for me maintaining my blog has been a challenge while trying to meet my novel writing goals..It’s good to see that it can be done.
    🙂

    • Hey Natasha – wonderful to meet you!! I’ll be over to check out your digs shortly. So nice to meet new people…yeahhh!!
Yes, it’s a tough juggling act. This weekend I spent a lot of time getting most of my writing posts done for January. It meant a large chunk of time away from my WIP writing but it’ll make blogging in January way more streamlined etc. I think that works well for me. Taking two days and getting Mon-Wed posts drafted for the month so I can spend my evenings, and other weekends, on my WIP.
How do you juggle it currently?
Here’s to mastering the balance! 🙂

  12. To me, you rocked the ROW! Congrats sweetie!

  13. You’re smoking, girl! Way to go 🙂

  14. Coleen Patrick says:

    Congrats Natalie! That’s inspiring 🙂

  15. I LOVE that you outlined your ‘wins’! So awesome, and inspiring!! Keep on keeping on!

  16. You rocked it this week, girlfriend! Nice start to ROW80.

  17. Congrats on those wins, Natalie!!!! I’ve been tracking my blog visits/comments through paper and pen. Tameri (I think) mentioned doing it through a spreadsheet. Just fyi. . .

  18. Great check in. I love that you count your word totals for blog posts. I put a lot of effort and time into those, and it’s worth noting those totals. Thanks for the idea!

I always love popping over here. Your blog just makes me happy!

Looking forward to following your progress this round. Hope you are having a great week!

    • Yes, the blog post word count isn’t part of my goals but I thought I’d start tracking it just so I can see the number of words I am “writing” for an entire week/month/year! I think it’ll be very interesting. You blog every single day so I think that’d be awesome for you to know and include in your ROW80 progress reports.
Awwwwww….I feel the same about your blog Tia – something so refreshing and fun! I am glad that mine makes you happy – that’s my intent and goal so yayyyyy!!!
      Have a FAHHHBULOUS week!

Don't be shy...tell me what you think
