A slight change to the blog program

Today you would normally be coming here to see a mash-up of fahhhbulous posts I’ve found across the blogosphere. However, in an attempt to streamline and to put my fiction writing as a priority, I’ve decided to make some changes to my blog.

Instead of posting 5 days with a long mash-up on Thursdays, I’m now going to post 4 days a week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday) and will feature (starting next week) links to other blog fabulousness at the end of each post.

Same great content just shuffled around a smidge.

I’ve also updated my About this blog page with the deets.

    • Awwww…thank you Emma!!! You totally brought a huge smile to my face…no worries, I won’t touch Urban Word Wednesday – I have WAY too much fun with them!!! As does hubby. LOL!!

    • Thank you Ali!! I certainly didn’t want to give up highlighting others but really wanted to find a way to streamline. I am hoping this works well. 🙂

    • I couldn’t agree more! I actually think this will work better. Less intimidating than getting a post with over a dozen other posts to check out. No matter how uberlicious they are, who has time to check out a dozen posts in one sitting?! LOL!

    • I really appreciate your support Kate. Yes, I definitely didn’t want to lose the promo part but needed to find a better way. Besides which, my Thursday post was getting the least amount of hits. This way, the people I promo Mon through Wed – my best days – will hopefully get more traffic as well. 🙂

  11. SOOOOO proud of you that you’re making your writing a priority!!! I can’t wait to hear about your progress. I think it’s good to change it up until you find your sweet spot when it comes to the blog. I’m still feeling my way around myself, believe it or not. Some weeks I post more or less, depending on the week.

    Of course I have a special surprise for YOU in tomorrow’s post so I like tomorrow. Plus, there’s a pimp or promote feature so you can announce that you’re changing around your schedule. WOOT!!

    • Thank you Jenny. I felt like it was absolutely a step in the right direction. As much as it’s nice to set a routine, I think it’s important to look at what’s working and what’s not and tweak! Finding the sweet spot definitely takes trial and error – and time. 🙂
      YOU are my posting hero. I have no idea how you have time to post 5 to 6 times a week, cheer everyone one, comment/tweet maniac, work, raise a child, love hubby, AND write?!?! You are superwoman…I bow to you. 🙂

      • Have you noticed that I do blogs that take very little time to write? I write fast, but part of it is I set a time limit for my blog writing – 1 hour total for writing AND the posting and formatting.

        Since my pregnancy blogs are part of my WIP research, I take a bit more time there, but ROW80 blogs take about 15-20 mins to post, and I only check in 1x/week though I usually stop in to encourage on both Sun and Wed. My Techie Tuesday posts sometimes take longer because of screen shots but those are how I give back.

        I’d rather spend the majority of my time interacting with you guys via comments. I also keep a lot of drafts going on my WordPress dashboard, so that if I don’t have time to blog, there is something almost ready to go.

        This comment is getting long enough that I think I have to create a post on some of the methods behind my madness. Hmmmm….

          I love that you set a time limit. I think I need to set a revision limit. I sometimes will reread and tweak a post a dozen times when really, it wasn’t required. It’s likely my biggest time burner where I could learn to let go.
          I also considered checking in on ROW80 only once a week but decided to stick with two with the commitment of making them shorter and sweeter unless I had a real issues/idea that I wanted thoughts on. So far, so good.
          As well, I work up my drafts in Word, which is fine but I think I’d do better to move them into WordPress sooner so I edit, revise and format all at the same time.
          GREAT tips and tricks Jenny!! Definitely blog post worthy!!!
          Hmmm…you got me thinking about how to be more efficient – love it!
