ROW80 – Round 4 – Check-in #10

It’s time to update you on my ROW80 progress. You can find a list of my goals here.

Work In Progress Goals:

No problemo – famous last words from Wednesday.

  • 2 hours total on WIP (my goal is 5 hours/week)
  • I neglected my ROW80 Sista, Nancy J. Nicholson this week (sorry Sista…). I’ll get back to regular email check-ins starting tomorrow.
  • I reported on my ROW80 goals on time.

I did spend a few bits of time here and there on the WIP. But I didn’t end up spending a concentration of time on it over the weekend as I had planned. Instead, I took a weekend off. Off from everything. Off from blogging, twitter, and the WIP. After my week of intensity at work, I needed to…unplug…so I did.

I rested, read some women’s fiction, walked Tess, watched movies, spent time with hubby, napped, had dinner and laughs with friends, and just vegged. Oh yes, and hubby took me shopping for some new pants, a couple new tops, and some hot hot hot boots (but that’s another post). It was glorious. It was wonderful. And I’ll get back to blogging and WIP this coming week feeling rejuvenated and ready for action!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend as well!

Blogging Goals:

  • Blogged 6 days (7 posts) including this post.
  • Read, commented, retweeted/tweeted on over 20 blogs.

How is your ROW80 progress going thus far?

  1. I think you did the right thing, Natalie. We all should do that now and then. Unplug. Awesome. And you did make progress on your writing. A great week and some time off–good for you!

    • Thanks so much Marcia! Yes, I had to listen to the body and the brain…it was zapped so taking some downtime will only make me better for next week. Thanks so much for the vote of confidence! 🙂

  2. Unplug is a great remedy! Everyone needs doses of that (different doses, but they do need it!).
Despite that, you’re doing great! You really are 😉
*shakes pompons* and I’m sure you’ll do even better next week!

    • Woooot wooot! Thank you soooo much Juliana…love your pompoms! :)) It’s slow and steady but it’s coming and I will get there…lol…tks for the FAB support!

  3. Good for you taking time off! I can’t wait to read about the boots… jealous!

Keep up the super fab work. You’re doing great and even if you aren’t hitting all of your goals, you’re still doing something!!

    • The boots are amazing. I can’t wait to show em’ off! 🙂 You’ll have to head out and treat yourself. 🙂
Thanks darlin’! For me, having a WIP in progress is a huge success….hahaha…

  4. Natalie, that sounds soooo goooood now. I need to unplug, go shopping, spend time with friends, oh, keep dreaming, Angela 🙂 Serioiusly, it’s awesome that you could do that. I need to restructure my time because I start feeling overwhelmed.

Keep us the great job, dear. Some weeks we hit our goals, and some we don’t. But most important is to strive to achieve them, and you are doing it! 🙂

    • I think we all need that. I know it meant two weekends in a row of not much WIP but I couldn’t have focused even if I wanted to. I had a pretty rough weekend last weekend…then a pretty intense week…I was zapped. What can a girl do?! Besides, hubby was insisting on shopping so?!?!?
Yes, if you are feeling overwhelmed, take some time to restructure and find some down time. We all need that – it makes us far more productive when we plug back in! 🙂

  5. That’s the ticket – unplug! Whenever you feel the need, do it! The world continues to revolve and we’ll all be here when you plug back in. Sooooo – “hot hot hot boots”, huh? Can’t wait for that post!

  6. Good for you! It sounds like you got just what you needed. We all need a break sometimes. Glad to hear you enjoyed yourself and looking forward to the post on the boots:)

  7. Bravo – I think it’s important to unplug, and do so without beating yourself up. Sometimes time away from writing actually gets your brain working in different ways… and when you come back to your project fresh, boom! You are on another level.

    Happy writing this week!

    • Absolutely! Thanks so much Gina – really appreciate the vote of confidence and I think you are right. Sometimes when we unplug, we actually get the creative juices flowing even more…here’s to the week ahead!

  8. Good for you taking some down time! Sounds like you enjoyed yourself. Good luck with the upcoming week 🙂

  9. Hi Natalie,

I wanted to thank you as one of the WANA711 super social media graduates for your kind comments you left on my post on Friday. Sorry if it was not what you expected or was a bit of a downer, but I had to write the tribute.

Of course you might not know this but I do subscribe to your post and yes I know that you did blog six times last week, seven including your check in with ROW80. And I enjoy each and every one of them. And that is parcially why I am leaving this message.

I would love it if you would consider guest blogging for me. I think the WANA1011 group could use a little spicing up just a bit, if ya know what I mean. Spread some of that Hartman charisma over in our neck of the woods!

Thank you Natalie and I’ll look forward to hearing from you soon!

    • Thanks so much for the fab comment Karen! I really enjoyed the post and actually found it quite uplifting and inspirational! 🙂
And thank you for subscribing – woot woot! I am honored to be asked about guest posting – wow – totally flattered and I’d absolutely love to. I’ll fire you an email and we can work out the deets. Eeeekeee…super excited! 🙂

  10. You did the right thing taking some time off for you. You are doing great on balancing the goals. *stretching so I can get in some high kicks for you this week* 🙂

  11. Catie Harrell says:

Sometimes you have to take time off just to slack! I did the same the other night, but I had that nagging voice in my head that said “WIP WIP WIP WIP”. Great job on what you did get done! It is a challenge at times. You are a blogging/commenting goddess!

    Good luck this week!

    • Well…ummm…I like anyone that refers to me as any kind of goddess…LOL!!!
I think it’s easier for me to unplug because I am still so lost on the initial idea front. I can only imagine once I am knee deep in characters lives and story plot arcs how difficult it would be to unplug and not think about it. I obsess about trying to nail down a darn idea for land sakes! So….I’m sure I’ll join your ranks of WIP WIP WIP soon enough. LOL!
Have a GREAT week Catie! 🙂

Don't be shy...tell me what you think
