ROW80 – Round 4 – Check-in #17

It’s time to update you on my ROW80 progress. You can find a list of my goals here.

Work In Progress Goals:

Lord, this is getting embarrassing. I got nothing for you on the ol’ WIP!

  • 0 hours on WIP (goal: 5 hours/week)
  • Other than posting on her blog, I haven’t been in touch with my ROW80 Sista, Nancy J. Nicholson yet – I still suck
  • Although I did report on my ROW80 goals on time

I’ve still been sick. Today is really the first day I’ve felt like I am on the mend so I know I’ll get some WIP work done this weekend for sure but most of my evenings since Sunday have been spent curling up to my box of Kleenex. Sexy!

Blogging Goals:

  • Blogged 3 days (5 posts) including this post and my GUEST post – rockstar!
  • Read, commented, retweeted/tweeted on at least 10 blogs.

I did manage to look at the computer screen long enough to do some blogging, tweeting, and stumbling although I haven’t been nearly as attentive to my peeps as I’d like to be. When my eyeballs started feeling like they were squeezing out of my head, I had to put the laptop down. But I’ll get back to all of you soon!!

How is your ROW80 progress going thus far?

Urban Word Wednesday: Blumpkin (Warning: brace yourselves; a bit R-rated and kind of gross)

Welcome to Urban Word Wednesday! New words, phrases, and sayings I am learning (and using in my day-to-day life) brought to you by ME…and the Urban Dictionary. You are gonna love these!

Blumpkin: the delicately balanced art of receiving a blow job while taking a dump.

Examples Of Use:

Hubby: so….how about you give me a blumpkin tonight?

Me (looking up from laptop): ahhh…sure…what is it?

Hubby: well….it involves you giving me a blow job while I take a shit.

Me: you didn’t honestly think I’d fall for that, did you? Sick pervert!

Hubby: you should totally use that on your blog!

Me: my readers will block my blog – seriously hubby – are you insane!?!?

Hubby: they’ll love it!

Hubby is out of control on the urban dictionary – save me – tell him he’s gone too far this time!

International Day of Pink…in honor of me?!?!?

Today, my gorgeous new WANA friend Karen McFarland declared today International Day of Pink in honor…of…ME. WOOT WOOT! Can you believe it!?!? I know. Soooo cool…thank you Karen! It’s so lovely to be appreciated and loved so deeply. MUAH!

And in honor of this fahhhhbulous distinction, you can find me guest posting over at Karen’s uberlicious blog digs today. It’s a hilarious post on blogging advice I…well…sort of ignored and made my own. Definitely swing by and be sure to read some of Karen’s other ditties – they rock!

And…also in honor of today being International Day of Pink AND Twisted Tuesday, I decided to feature something truly uberliciously, sparkly, bedazzled and PINK

Y’all know that hubby graciously gave me his new Blackberry bold 9900 that I blinged up with a gorgeous rhinestone case to give it some sparkle. Well I found THE PERFECT bling accessory to go with it. A pink crystal rhinestone Bluetooth earpiece! OMG it’s uberlicious and I love it! And I can order it from Amazon for just $37.99.

This is perfect timing because, as most of you know, New Brunswick passed new driving distracted legislation in June. So in our province, you are no longer allowed to use your cell phone while driving; no texting, fiddling with an iPod or talking on your cell phone while driving. Legislation I support 100% given that driving while texting is tantamount to driving drunk.

So….that means if I want to talk on my blackberry while driving, I need a bluetooth so I can do so hands free. And the pink crystal rhinestone Bluetooth is perfect and will match my already blinged up Blackberry to perfection!

I know…isn’t it fahhhbulous!?!?! I had no idea such a thing even existed. And now my imagination is going a million miles a minute wondering what other blinged out electronics I can find; ear buds, iPod case, laptop case…ohhhh…the possibilities are endless, aren’t they?!?!

Like, how about this matching pink crystal rhinestone keyboard and wireless mouse from Amazon for only $74.99?!??! EEEEKEEEE…

I know what you might be thinking “Natalie…do you think this might be a wee bit too much bling?!?!

Ummmm…hmmmm…NO! Duh?!?! Did you read my little profile blurb on my right-hand menu: “If I owned a BeDazzler, I’d be dangerous.” I wasn’t kidding!

I am PRAYING Santa brings me these two little ditties. I’ve been sooo good this year! My heart is just tickled PINK with idea…stay tuned for more PINK insanity to come!

Now, please go visit me over at Karen’s….and let’s CELEBRATE!

It’s International Day of Pink and Twisted Tuesday and that means it’s time to enjoy a smile, giggle or laugh…here’s hoping I’ve provided it in spades…enjoy!

How do you BeDazzle your life?

Public displays of affection gone wild???

Hubby and I enjoy "reasonable" PDA

What’s your take on public displays of affection (PDA)?

For me, I am pretty much in favor of lots of PDA. Growing up, my parents were very openly affectionate with each other; always holding hands and kissing in the kitchen while making dinner etc. They were happy and the most in love couple I knew so I’ve always associated reasonable PDA as a symbol a healthy and vibrant relationship.

Lucky for me, hubby’s on board. We almost always hold hands everywhere we go. It’s not unusual to see me curl up to him if we are standing in line. I will rub his back as we semi hug each other. He’ll bring his head down to kiss me on the forehead.

We engage in the occasional kiss in public. We aren’t talking lip locked, tongue exchange R-rated kissing. Just a nice, semi mouth-opened smooch. It has more meaning and substance than a peck but I think is classy and tasteful. We obviously aren’t gearing up for the bedroom or anything.

At parties, friends usually make snide remarks because we typically stick together. We’ll enjoy drinks and laughs but are always delicately pawing at each other. Kisses, winks, pats on the bum. They’ll tell us to get a room…I think they’re all just jealous!

It’s something I love about us! I think it keeps things sparkly, fresh, and feeling new and exciting. I also think it keeps our passion and romance alive and well.

But how much PDA is too much?

Last week I got my answer. Hubby and I pulled into the parking lot for death by swimming. It was dark out. The public pool is part of a middle school that offers a number of after-school activities for kids and families so it’s a pretty busy spot. The parking lot was about half full (around 20 vehicles) with families arriving and leaving.

We circled around the bulk of the cars and came around the back of a 4-door car parked towards the furthest of the bunch (but certainly not off on its own). As we did, I noticed a young guy, teenager, sitting in the back seat. It struck me as odd but not totally unthinkable. Maybe he was waiting for his parents who were inside picking up his kid sister, right?

Isn’t that weird….” I said to hubby sort of indicating with a head gesture towards the car.

He’s totally getting a blow job…didn’t you see him pat her head as we drove past?” hubby replied.

No freaking way. No! Stop it. You are sick and demented. Who would do that in the semi-lit parking lot of a middle school with families and children around?

I mean, it was dark out and the parking lot wasn’t lit up like Christmas but still?!?! If this guy was getting a blow job surely he would have parked further off to the darkest, unoccupied edge of the parking lot so as NOT to be seen for sure…by a child no less! As we were having this conversation, we circled around to the front of the car in question so our lights shone RIGHT in it for a good 30 seconds. I took a good, HARD look and honestly, I didn’t see any “girl” doing anything. I chalked it up to hubby’s sick and perverted imagination (I mean…dirty, wool cock sock…need I say more!?!?).

We were there a few minutes shooting the breeze while we waited for our other swimming partner to join us.

That’s when hubby said “seeee…there’s a girl sitting up now?

I looked and nope…I didn’t see anything. Hubby’s on crack! But…wait…wait a minute…wait….

There was a girl sitting up, in the backseat….smoking a CIGARETTE no less. My mouth fell open….I was stunned….

To make matters worse, not 2 minutes later, 2 other teens came strolling along out of NO WHERE and jumped in the driver and passenger seat and the car took off. My stomach lurched! They had obviously gone for a “walk” so these two could get their freak on.

Hubby looked at me, winked, and sort of gestured his head as if to say “my turn?”

In your dreams big guy….I am all for going “parking” but NOT in a packed, middle school parking lot. I have standards. It’d have to at least be in the woods or something…

What’s your take on PDA? Ever go parking? How about going parking in public?

ROW80 – Round 4 – Check-in #16

It’s time to update you on my ROW80 progress. You can find a list of my goals here.

Work In Progress Goals:

Well, what can I say, not much changed since I updated on Wednesday.

  • 0 hours on WIP (goal: 5 hours/week)
  • I haven’t touched base with my ROW80 Sista, Nancy J. Nicholson yet – I suck.
  • I reported on my ROW80 goals on time.

I got nothing done this week as I had hoped. Death by swimming did go ahead so Wednesday was a right off but I thought I’d get more done later in the week and weekend. But then….I caught hubby’s illness.

First it started with a sore throat that kept me awake all night Thursday night. It honestly felt like someone poured acid down my throat. It was so swollen that every time I tried to swallow any liquid, it came out my nose. Ewwwww!! TMI!! Then Friday it erupted in my sinus’ and I thought my head was trying to grow legs through my eyeballs. I couldn’t even concentrate. I spent the entire weekend in bed with a box of klennex and a whimpering voice. Hubby took excellent care of me. I realized his cold was much worse than I thought and I should have provided him with more sympathy than I did. Ooops. Sorry hubby, I’ll do better next time!

All that to say – I got nothing done on my WIP this week – nada!

Oh well, here’s to feeling better this week – I hope!

Blogging Goals:

Powerful impaired driving videos

Two years ago, my beautiful mother-in-law’s life was cut tragically short by an impaired driver. In honor of Donna Jean Kennie, please don’t drink and drive. Impaired driving is 100% preventable. Think about it.

Two weeks ago, I shared with you a powerful video of Kali’s story. Today I’d like you to check out a few more powerful impaired driving videos. Share them with friends and family and let’s get the word out that drinking and driving is unacceptable!

Support MADD Canada and follow them on Facebook, Twitter (@maddcanada), and on the Web.

What impaired driving videos have hit him with you?

A little linky love for US turkey day

It’s Thursday and that means it’s time to share the blog luv.

Happy Thanksgiving to all my US peeps. I hope y’all have a wonderful day with family, friends, and lots of love and good food. Here’s to continued health and prosperity to all! Being Canadian, we celebrated ours in October.

Blog Out Loud:

  • If you haven’t been over to visit Annette Gendler’s blog to see her new design, go check it out today. The digs are beautiful. She’s got a gorgeous, bright, happy header; a quote that sort of sums her up; and a fabulous layout and white background. It’s all changes she learned and implemented from Kristen Lamb’s blogging to build brand course. Great job Annette – I love it!
  • Have you thought about doing vlogs on your blog? I just watched/read this post by Darren Rowse from ProBlogger on the benefits of posting videos on your blog and I gotta tell you, I am kind of sold. I am really looking forward to his upcoming vlogs on the “how tos”. I know Amy Shojai uses a lot of vlogs at the end of a number of her posts that I find really effective. Another of my favorite bloggers, Lindsay of Designer Wife, does vlogs and I’ve always enjoyed them. In both instances, they make the blogger seem more real and personal. Maybe I’ll do a little intro video on mine? Hmmmm…you?

Write Out Loud:

  • Loved this week’s post by Roni Loren on 3 things you can do now to prepare for published authorhood. I like it because I totally believe on what you focus on, grows. So, if you are focusing on what life will be like when you are a published author, then that is what will come. It was also practical advice. My fav tidbits; find balance and let go of guilt.
  • Patricia Sands gave a shout out to the recent, amazing success of self-published author Torre DeRoche. I went and read the whole story on Torre’s blog and it’s an inspiration. Essentially she self-published her book on her blog September 7 and by November 11 she landed an agent, four major publishing deals, and a movie deal. Shut up! She’s a walking success story for the power of social media!
  • Kristen Lamb has been giving us a steady stream of tutorials on structure (thank you Kristen) and this week she delved into the mastery of scenes. As she points out, it’s easy to get lost when dealing with a structure as complex as a novel so she gave us a nifty tool to keep everything straight.
  • Join me in sending a huge congratulations to Angela Wallace on the release of her self-published book Elemental Magic. I love the cover and the book description – sounds like a FAB read. Go check it out!

Life Out Loud:

  • Elena Aitken did a fantastic post on the importance of finding your inner athlete. What I loved most is that she helped me realize that I don’t have to be a pro on the court or the next swimming champion to be an athlete. My inner athlete is any size, shape and weight. She’s just a fitter, more active me.
  • Have you been to Nice, France? I haven’t. But when I visited Naomi Bulger’s blog, I took a most spectacular trip through her outstanding photography. Go get swept away!
  • For all you single gals, Jenny Hansen wrote a fantastic post on how she put a dating disaster record behind her with the help of a dating committee and landed herself a prince. You can to! Also, be sure to check out Jenny’s post on why she’s thankful for the military (there’s a book give away involved).
  • Jillian Dodd never ceases to impress me with her Philanthropy Thursday line-up where she encourages us all to be more philanthropic in our lives. And she reminds us that philanthropy doesn’t have to be donating to charity, it can be anything from helping a neighbor, lending an ear, or giving a thoughtful word. And Jillian puts her money where her mouth is. She donates 20% of the proceeds from the sale of her book, That Boy. In October, she donated $780 dollars to the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the University of Nebraska Foundation. That Boy donations total $2010. Isn’t that amazing!
  • With the holiday stress on the way, we need all the help we can get to stay positive and upbeat. Angela Orlowski-Peart put together 11 simple, and practical, tips on staying positive that I know I’ll put to good use!

Laugh Out Loud:

  • I am sure you are all regular visitors to Noa Gavin’s blog but if not, you have to go check out these two posts. I nearly died watching the video her and a couple of friends made on brainstorming for shows for TLC – RIOT! Then she did another hilarious post on rules for DisneyWorld. Seriously? I nearly died! Just the laugh I needed this week.
  • Paige Kellerman was in true form when she wrote her letter to Kim Kardashian with some wonderful marital advice. I nearly peed myself.

I hope you enjoyed this week’s line-up of fantabulous blog posts. Stay tuned for next week’s. I promise to go and spend oodles of time (time away from friends and family I’ll have you know…) to bring you this do-or-die information…My god…you guys must really love me!!

Got any ditties of your own to share? Let me know and maybe they’ll be featured as part of next week’s line-up…

ROW80 – Round 4 – Check-in #15

It’s time to update you on my ROW80 progress. You can find a list of my goals here.

Work In Progress Goals:

Is it time to check in already? Wow!

  • 0 hours on WIP (goal: 5 hours/week)
  • I haven’t touched base with my ROW80 Sista, Nancy J. Nicholson yet (I suck) but I will shortly.
  • I reported on my ROW80 goals on time.

On the WIP front, I got nothing done so far this week. Hubby and I took Monday off as a little vacation day so I ignored all things writing. Last night I cleaned instead of writing and trust me, my house was in DIRE need. Tonight I might get to a little writing if death by swimming gets canceled since we are in the midst of a snowstorm. We’ll see. Deep down, I gotta be honest, I’m kind of hoping I’ll be writing tonight…

Blogging Goals:

  • Blogged 3 days (4 posts) including this post
  • Read, commented, retweeted/tweeted on at least 10 blogs.

Urban Word Wednesday: lmgtfy

Welcome to Urban Word Wednesday! New words, phrases, and sayings I am learning (and using in my day-to-day life) brought to you by ME…and the Urban Dictionary. You are gonna love these!

lmgtfy (abbreviation): let me Google that for you! You use the website to search whatever the stupid person asked about. Then you email them the link. It spells it out for them.

If they aren’t smart enough to clue in, tell them about lmgtfy’s raging alcoholic cousin GFGI (Go fucking Google it!).

Examples Of Use:

Just this week, hubby and I were enjoying some TV together. We were both playing around on our laptops when the following conversation ensued.

Me: Hubby, any idea what the movies are playing tonight? Maybe we could go on a little date?

Hubby: absolutely my darlin’ little love flower, check your email, I just sent them to you!

Me: Awwww….thank you Mr. Adorable!

I opened the email and clicked on this link:

Got anyone who constantly calls you to Google stuff for them? Will you use lmgtfy?

Tea steeping is an art form

OK, so all of you tea drinkers know there’s nothing more annoying than trying to get the perfect cup of tea time after time. There’s a fine line to steep it just so; too long and its bitter but to short and it’s watery and flavorless.

How many times have I set my tea to steep and got distracted doing something else? And I don’t know about you but I hate standing there dipping and bobbing waiting for the perfect tea. Unless I set an egg timer to go off or stand there hovering, there’s no telling what kind of cup I am going to wind up with. Tea steeping is an art form!

Well I have met the Picasso of tea steeping; the penguin tea timer.

This little guy not only times your perfect steeped tea but….wait for it….he PULLS your tea bag out when it’s ready. I know, eh!?!?!?!? So, even if you don’t hear the timer when it goes off, you will still be guaranteed perfectly brewed tea every time!

The only down side is that it only works with tea bags and not the metal infusers.

Seriously, I could just watch this little guy bob all day long. I’ve suddenly become a huge tea drinker because he just…I don’t know…makes me smile! Isn’t he adorable?!?!

Check this out! Someone posted a YouTube video of the little devil in action (I know?!?! It’s the cutest thing EVER…LOVE IT!?!?!) The real action happens at 0:48 – watch for it!!!

It’s a great gift idea for the tea drinker in your family. You can get yours from Amazon (although Amazon says it is currently unavailable right now) or from As Seen On TV for $29.95.

It’s Twisted Tuesday and that means it’s time to enjoy a smile, giggle or laugh…here’s hoping I’ve provided it in spades…enjoy!

How do you steep your tea? Any neat gadgets you’ve found that make life easier?
