Urban Word Wednesday: Serial Infatuator

Welcome to Urban Word Wednesday! New words, phrases, and sayings I am learning (and using in my day-to-day life) brought to you by ME…and the Urban Dictionary. You are gonna love these!

Today is a special double wammy (although one likely isn’t quite so unknown)!

Serial Infatuator: someone who continually has intimate relationships that last only between 3-5 months; the defined timeline for infatuation.

Examples Of Use:

My ex-boyfriend is a Serial Infatuator. He doesn’t get past the 5-month mark where infatuation gives way to true love. Honestly, he rarely gets past the 5-week mark! He’s such a douchebag! I wonder if he’ll ever learn to grab hold of his cojones and give a relationship a real try?

Know someone who is a serial infatuator? Share the wealth…

  1. When I first read the title, I thought the word was Serial INFURIATOR! I’m thinking it’s someone who gets everyone’s hackles up with infuriating comments…D’oh!

Okay, infatuator — let’s see, my sonn’s whole 7th grade class.

  2. Oh, I used to be a serial infatuator. Seriously. I have major commitment issues and once that sweet honeymoon period was over, I was out. I’m still confused how David made it past the 5 month mark. Huh. Guess it was love, not infatuation!

You and your double post today. Wow. You are wonder woman!

    • No way?!?! LOL!! Well I guess you didn’t see the point in wasting time with anything that wasn’t true love and with David, you knew it was. How’s that for instinct!!!
      Wonder woman…hmmm….I try!! 🙂

  3. Oh man, I know a couple of people like this. I don’t know how people can be “in love” so many times in life.

I’ve been with my husband since I was 19, lol. I can’t even relate:)

  4. I’m totally laughing at the example you gave, ’cause in my case, it’s true. I dated my ex for almost 2 years, and up to that point, the longest relationship he had had was with his high school sweetheart, and they had only dated for a year. He would tell me about these “ex-girlfriends” he had, and it would turn out that they had only dated for a few weeks (and in my book, “a few weeks” doesn’t translate into “steady partner”). I’m a bit of the opposite — while I tend to develop rather fleeting crushes, once I decide that I want to settle into a relationship with someone, I hunker down. No fly by night stuff for me!

  5. So…most teens would be Serial Infatuators, then, right? ;p

Don't be shy...tell me what you think
